Pine Valley Local Administrative District Board Meeting

Attending PVLAD Assistants: Rick Peetz, Treasurer (excused); LaDawn Christensen, Secretary; Emily Nielson, Overlay Zone Advisor

Welcome, Prayer & Pledge of Allegiance: Meeting called to order by Allen. Mike provided the prayer, and Gene led the pledge.
Pine Valley Overlay Business: The board reviewed Keith Kelsch’s information and the request for Pine Valley Overlay Zone approval. The board approved the home on the condition Keith speaks with Allen regarding a few items in the PVOZ document.
Minutes from the September 2023 Meeting: Herman approved the minutes, Mike seconded, and all in favor.
Board Member Reports:
Herman noted the county arrests are low compared to normal. Nothing out of the ordinary to report.
Mike mentioned the five-county has an additional approved vaccine for COVID-19 available. They are pushing for residents to get vaccinated.
Community Watch: Gene, along with Herman, reported the HAM radio was tested and monitored at the same time as the national federal emergency alert today. The fire department has an open house on the 14th of this month. Gene and Herman will have a booth and be available for questions.
Sheriff’s Office Review: No updates.
Community Center: Joe Rechsteiner with the Dixie National Forest sent an email last week mentioning he is still working with the property folks on the best way to utilize the requested property for the community center.
Treasurer Report: Rick provided the financial reports prior to the meeting for the board to review.
Citizens Request: No requests.

August 2023 Meeting Minutes: Herman approved the minutes, Mike seconded, and all were in favor.
Board Member Reports:
Mike reported that SR-18 road improvements are close to completion.
Fire Chief Report:Brian Davis reported the fire and EMS report for October’s meeting. Eight calls in September: one fire alarm, one EMS and Search and Rescue call, and six EMS calls, including two cancellations. Brian reported 58 man hours for the month and 20 vehicle hours.
Short-Term Rental (STR) Fire Inspections: Brian stated the fire inspections continue to be in the process of being organized.
Treasurer Report: Rick sent the board the financial reports before the meeting. Herman approved the financials, Mike seconded, and all in favor.
Citizen Requests: Duane mentioned a fridge was discarded at the Pine Valley dump, which is not allowed.
The next scheduled PVSSD meeting will be on November 1, 2023.
