March 9, 2022

Attending Board Members: Mary Esther Putnam, Chairwoman; Bob Dalley, Vice-Chairman; Allen Cannon, Herman Nordbruch, Mike Stucki
PVSSD Assistants:  Rick Peetz, Treasurer; Steve Shakespeare, Fire Chief; LaDawn Christensen, Secretary
Attending Guest: Emily T. Neilson, Robert Hardy, Frank Davie, Gene Phillips

Welcome:  Meeting called to order by Mary Esther.  Prayer given by Herman and Pledge of Allegiance led by Mike.

General Business:Herman moved to approve the February 2022 meeting minutes, Allen seconded and all in favor.

Board Member Reports:  Bob reported a positive conversation with Commissioner Almquist regarding the SSDs on Highway 18.  Mike reported that the dirt road magnesium chloride placement is still on the county agenda.

Post Office Building:Allen reported the design and architect for the Pine Valley postal building is ongoing.

Pine Valley Building Permits:  Two building permits issued.

Fire Chief Report:Steve reported nine incidents since our last meeting.  Eight EMT related calls and one smoke alarm.  The 5-ton tender is now ready for use.

Treasurer Report:  Rick asked to move unused 2021 funds to the long-term spending account. Rick asked for funds to cover a new fire department computer, Bob approved. Bob moved to approve financials, Herman seconded, all in favor.

Citizen Requests:  Emily Neilson reported on the progress of the Overlay Zone project and upcoming meetings.

The next scheduled PVSSD meeting will be April 6, 2022.

PVSSD Board Meeting adjourned.  Moved into PVLAD meeting.

Welcome:  Frank Davie

Minutes from February 2022:  Herman approved, Allen seconded and all in favor.

Board Member Reports:

 Allen Cannon, sheriff’s office report:  New sheriff contact is Aaron Thompson. Allen will schedule a meeting to meet Aaron  and ensure he is aware how committed Pine Valley is with the Community Watch program.

 Bob Dalley, traffic report:  Bob mentioned that since the electronic speeding signs were installed, speeding traffic has dropped significantly.  The signs are working and worth the investment.

 Herman Nordbruch, county crime report:  Current bookings much higher than normal.  No significant activity to report in Pine Valley.

 Mike Stucki, five-county public health report:  Covid and flu incidents are significantly down.  Pharmacies are slow and access to some medications can be difficult.

 Community Watch:  Gene Phillips reported on the Community Watch program.  Seventy-four families have signed up. Goal is 100 families.

Home Fire Alarms:  A board member reported he installed a Ring alarm system with a smoke sensor.  Process was simple and inexpensive.

Pine Valley Dump:  No issues.

Treasurer Report:  Rick presented financials. Bob approved and Herman seconded.

Citizens Request:  No requests.
