April 5, 2023

Attending Board Members: Frank Davie, Chairman; Bob Dalley, Allen Cannon, Herman Nordbruch, Mike Stucki
PVLAD Assistants:  Rick Peetz, Treasurer (excused); LaDawn Christensen, Secretary; Emily Nielson, Overlay Zone Advisor
Fire Chief: Robert Hardy

Welcome:  Meeting called to order by Frank.  Prayer was given by Herman, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Allen.

Mail Building: Allen and Emily presented the Pine Valley Gathering Place Survey results. The majority of the 124 who responded to the survey strongly agree with a gathering place in the community. The board discussed the results of the survey. Discussions will resume going forward; however, the Forest Service must approve land use before any concrete plans are set. Allen Cannon is working in close contact with the Forest Service as a new director (ranger) is pending.

Pine Valley Overlay Business:  No requests this month.

Minutes from March 2023: Bob moved to approve, Herman seconded, and all were in favor.

Board Member Reports:

Bob reported the traffic is generally about the same.  The electronic traffic sign near the Branding Iron is no longer working after the last windstorm.

Herman reported Purgatory bookings are within normal parameters. He mentioned that the Utah license plates can only be read by government officials. A State of Utah helicopter is in place at the St. George Regional Airport for police, rescue efforts, and other government community needs.

Community Watch: Gene reported 92 members are part of the program. Two new signs will be replaced that were destroyed by weather. A class on radio use will be scheduled soon.

Treasurer Report: Rick presented financials. Bob approved the financials, Herman seconded and all in favor

Citizens Request:  No requests.

Welcome:  Meeting called to order by Bob.

  Minutes from March 2023 Meeting:  Herman approved the minutes, Mike seconded, and all were in favor.

Board Member Reports:  Bob reported that the interim board for the new consolidated Mountain Fire SSD has met, and the initial meeting was held with Commissioner Adam Snow. These initial meetings are not public. The county wants the new board and SSD to be in place and running by July 1st.

Fire Chief Report:   Eight calls in March, one gas leak, and two fire alarms. Five EMS calls to Central. An Ice Rescue scenario is scheduled for Saturday, April 8th that the fire department and EMS have been training for. The sale of Brush 143 is being held off until after the new SSD is created. Robert reported the fire department has had record training attendance and the leadership is strong.

Treasurer Report: Rick presented the financials. Allen approved the financials, and Herman seconded, all in favor.
