Pine Valley Special Services District Meeting on March 2, 2016 at 6:00 pm

General Business
Mary Esther called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm, and Rachel led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Meeting Minutes
Minutes of the Meeting for February 3, 2016 were read by each Board Member. Herman motioned to accept the Minutes. Allen seconded the motion and all else were in favor.
Remuneration for Assistant Secretary
Rick suggested we take $50 month from the Secretary salary and pay to the Assistant Secretary. Allen made a motion and Herman seconded. All in favor.
Fire Protection Assessment Fees Discussion for Undeveloped Lots
The question of assessing undeveloped lots for fire protection was brought up. We have a fire protection assessment fee on all lots with buildings. But undeveloped lots can sometimes be even more of a fire hazard than ones with homes. Many are overgrown with dense trees, shrubs, undergrowth and grasses. The board wanted to continue to look into this, and Allen offered to talk to the County Office.
Impact Fee Discussion for Rentals
The Board has discussed the status of Rentals in the Valley. Rentals are a business and are a different fire evaluation rating from homes. Gerald offered to go down and meet with the County Board about this and discuss what other communities have done. Allen offered to help set that up for him. When Gerald talks with these people, we can get a better idea of what we can do about an impact fee on Rentals.

Fire Chief: Gerald had reports from Laurett, Frank, Rick and himself. Laurett talked about our two new EMT’s: Rick and Jay. Frank had put an article in the newspaper about the two new EMT’s under “People in the Community”. Laurett also talked about classes we have coming up and ones the EMT’s have attended. Frank discussed meetings he had been to recently. He talked on the CERT Organization and what it does for our community. He also talked on SW Utah Public Health. Rick talked to us about the new and different ways to fight fires. Each person had presentations for us to see. Gerald closed by saying how the present team works so well together, and that the County Emergency Manager would be here the following day for an Infrastructure review of the Department. He read us the Chief’s Report dated March 2, 2016.
Treasurer Report: Rick Peetz read and explained the “Balance Sheet” dated February 28, 2016, the “Profit & Loss Sheet” dated February 2016, the “Profit & Loss Detail” dated February 2016 and the “Profit and Loss Budget vs. Actual” dated January through February 2016..
John motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 pm, Allen seconded and all in favor.
The next scheduled PVSSD meeting will be April 6, 2016 at 6:00 pm.
