MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF MARCH 6, 2001

Minutes of the Pine Valley Special Service District Board of Directors meeting held on March 6, 2001 at 5:00 pm at the Washington County Administration Building, St. George, Utah.

Board members present were Chairman Ted Snow, Vicki Frei, and Judd Burgess. Also present were Board Secretary Julie Cropper, Erle Snow, and George Cropper.

The minutes of the meeting held on February 6, 2001 were read and approved by voice vote.

Chairman Ted Snow mentioned he had a nice letter of resignation from David Despain. The County Commissioners are accepting applications from interested, qualified people to fill the vacant position. The notice will be placed in four locations in Pine Valley and published in the newspaper. Applications must be submitted by April 10, 2001. An appointment will be made at the April 15, 2001 County Commission meeting.

Chairman Ted Snow asked Erle Snow, who represents the Pine Valley Water Company, about progress in installing the two fire hydrants. Erle said the work had been ordered but is not yet done.

Erle Snow, also a representative on the Dixie-Escalante REA Board, asked the Service District Board to present nominations for his upcoming vacant position on the REA Board, as the PVSSD Board has done in the past.

The draft copy of the annual letter to property owners was read and discussed. It was decided to add clarification about requesting property-owner phone numbers. Telephone numbers are needed to contact property owners in case of emergencies regarding their properties. The Pine Valley website address and Board Member email addresses will also be added to the letter. The letter will be finalized and mailing will begin soon.

Ted Snow discussed furnishing some food refreshment for volunteers at the fire training in April and May. The Board agreed that this should be done.

Property owners with multiple buildings were discussed. The decision was made that PVSSD will not charge for adjacent buildings if they are connected.

Vicki Frei has updated the website with minutes of previous meetings, and is trying out a message board to see if there is interest or a need for information that can be better provided by this format. Vicki also suggested that the brush and trees that fill up the garbage dumpsters so quickly could be piled up and later burned for fire training purposes as is done in Dammeron Valley.

Ted Snow announced that a meeting would be held the first Tuesday in April if needed. Vicki Frei moved and Judd Burgess seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 pm.
